The Brief
Marcroft Engineering undertook a project to upgrade their existing
computer systems to integrate both a Local Area Network and a
Wide Area Network.
Numerous contractors were considered but the contract was awarded
to Connectus, after a strict elimination process, because of our
experience in implementing Category 5 and 5E solutions as well
as our experience with fibre.
The Solution
Connectus designed and implemented a solution for Marcroft. The
solution consisted of various aspects which included the following:
- Eight hundred Category 5 points wired into Marcroft's head
office in Birmingham
|
- Cisco routers to connect Head Office at Birmingham to further
Marcroft sites ~ Stoke, Swansea, Lindsey (Suffolk) and Thames
Haven (Essex)
Since undertaking this project, Marcroft have developed further
their various sites with, for example, more users and office movement.
Connectus have consistently been used for this further network
development throughout the Marcroft Group and enjoy a strong partnership
bond with the Marcroft Group.
The Net 5E Structured Cabling System
To provide a high quality, flexible cabling system, Connectus
installs a Category 5 structured cabling system ~ Net 5.
Net 5 is one of the most popular Category 5 structured cabling
systems. It is constantly being developed and all Net 5 Circuitry
is tested to comply with ISO 11801 Cat 5 standards and exceeds
performance requirements for Class D networks.
